The right to exercise the profession

The right to exercise the profession of a nurse is vested with a person:

  1. who holds a certificate or diploma of completion of any Polish nursing school, or a certificate or diploma obtained in any country other than the EU Member State, provided that any such certificate or diploma has been recognised in the Republic of Poland as an equivalent to the certificate or diploma of completion of a nursing school, in accordance with separate provisions, and provided that he/she has satisfied the minimum educational requirements, as specified in the EU law;
  2. who has an unlimited legal capacity;
  3. whose health condition allows performing the said profession;
  4. who displays an impeccable ethical conduct.

The right to exercise the profession of a nurse is vested with a citizen of any EU Member State, provided that this person:

  1. holds one of the titles listed in the Directive 2005/36/EC on recognition of professional qualifications;
  2. holds a diploma, certificate or any other relevant document confirming formal qualifications to practise as a nurse in charge of general care, issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State;
  3. submits a statement issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, which confirms that the diploma, certificate or any other relevant document referred to in Point 2 above is in full compliance with the requirements stipulated in the EU law;
  4. has an unlimited legal capacity;
  5. submits a statement issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, which confirms that his/her health condition allows exercising the profession of a nurse;
  6. submits a statement issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, which confirms that he/she has not been deprived of the right to exercise the profession, or that this right has not been suspended, and that no proceedings have been instituted for depriving or suspending his/her right to exercise the profession;
  7. submits a statement that he/she has the sufficient command of the Polish language, both written and spoken, to exercise the profession of a nurse;
  8. displays an impeccable ethical conduct.

The right to exercise the profession of a midwife is vested with a person:

  1. who holds a certificate or diploma of completion of any Polish midwifery school, or a certificate or diploma obtained in any country other than the EU Member State, provided that any such certificate or diploma has been recognised in the Republic of Poland as an equivalent to the certificate or diploma of completion of a midwifery school, in accordance with separate provisions, and provided that he/she has satisfied the minimum educational requirements, as specified in the EU law;
  2. who has an unlimited legal capacity;
  3. whose health condition allows performing the said profession;
  4. who displays an impeccable ethical conduct.

The right to exercise the profession of a midwife is vested with a citizen of any EU Member State, provided that this person:

  1. holds one of the titles listed in the Directive 2005/36/EC on recognition of professional qualifications;
  2. holds a diploma, certificate or any other relevant document confirming formal qualifications to practise as a midwife, issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, provided that the midwifery training satisfies one of the following requirements:
    – it was full-time training, lasting at least 3 years, and its commencement was conditioned on holding a diploma, certificate or any other document that allows commencing education in a higher-education facility, and in absence thereof the training commencement was conditioned on holding a document certifying an equivalent level of knowledge, or followed by professional practice confirmed by a certificate showing that the midwife, upon obtaining the qualifications to perform midwifery services, worked as a midwife in a hospital or in any other healthcare facility for a period of at least 2 years,
    – it was full-time training, lasting at least 2 years or 3600 hours, and it was intended for persons holding a diploma, certificate or any other document confirming formal qualifications to exercise the profession of a nurse in charge of general care,
    – it was full-time training, lasting at least 18 months or 3000 hours, and it was intended for persons holding a diploma, certificate or any other document confirming formal qualifications to exercise the profession of a nurse in charge of general care, followed by professional practice confirmed by a certificate showing that the midwife, upon obtaining the qualifications to perform midwifery services, worked as a midwife in a hospital, or in any other healthcare facility for a period of at least 1 year;
  3. submits a statement issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, which confirms that the diploma, certificate or any other relevant document, referred to in Point 2 above, is in full compliance with the requirements stipulated in the EU law;
  4. has an unlimited legal capacity;
  5. submits a statement issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, which confirms that his/her health condition allows exercising the profession of a midwife;
  6. submits a statement issued by the relevant authorities or organisations, operating within the EU Member State, which confirms that he/she has not been deprived of the right to exercise the profession, or that this right has not been suspended, and that no proceedings have been instituted for depriving or suspending his/her right to exercise the profession;
  7. submits a statement that he/she has the sufficient command of the Polish language, both written and spoken, to exercise the profession of a midwife;
  8. displays an impeccable ethical conduct.
